Here at Windswept!

Happy Saturday morning!  I'm still here and had high hopes for doing a sale-a-bration countdown - however...I have been consumed by car shopping!  Which may sound fun, but I found to be very stressful.  My little cavalier has been such a great car to me, but has come to the point where she needs multiple repairs, so it was sink some money in or bite the bullet - so we bit the bullet, and am happy so say this week I should have a shiny new Jetta in my driveway.  Ok, so that's that, now amongst all this car shopping, I had to pack for our weekend at the cottage, I literally pack my entire scrap room into totes and fill my sisters Explorer to the roof - very time consuming but worth every minute.  So here we are, 10 of us crazy scrappers having a ball!  And what am I doing?  MDS'ing!  I really want to finish up our Cuba album, so I have been switching from cardmaking to MDS, and since I forgot my camera to take pics of my cards, I will have to share some MDS with you!  This is our favourite waiter in Cuba, Guillermo, I loved him and can't wait to go back and hopefully see him.  Hope you like and enjoy the rest of your day, thought these bright colours might take away the cold March chill out there!  Have a good one and thanks so much for stopping by!  Steph

Sale-a-bration Workshop at Ange's

Happy Saturday to you all!  Hope you are able to get some R&R in this weekend…that’s what we’re doing this morning!  Then it’s off to Niya’s birthday party…speaking of that I better get a card made up for that!  On to today’s post, this is part of the project we will be making at Ange’s workshop on Sunday; the other part is a card (2B made today too!)  OK, this page is another page featuring some awesome Sale-a-bration items…to begin with the Fresh vintage set was used with Daffodil delight all around the 12x12 piece of Daffodil Delight.  It’s also used with Pool Party ink around the mat behind the pictures.  The flowers along the left and on the ribbon and top corner are all from the Fresh Vintage set.  I’ve said this before I know, but this was a set that didn’t really appeal to me…but again, once I used it I was on a roll.  This page came to me very quickly and costs very little to make.  The DSP is from the Everyday Enchantment SAB paper, and the Lucky Limeade ribbon is also from the Sale-a-bration catalogue.  Super easy and I think super elegant…what do you think?  Have yourself a wonderful day and thanks so much for stopping by today!  Steph

Club Night - Yeah :)

Hello All!  I’m just noticing that the bottom of my exclamation point has fallen off my page!  Better go look for that!  Tonight is Club night – very excited to see everyone!  Today’s page is a mish mash of different things…a few sale-a-bration items such as the Brights Buttons (LOVE), Stripes Embossing folder (LOVE), and Sparkles stamp set (actual name escapes me, but LOVE it too) did I mention I LOVE sale-a-bration?  Really, who doesn’t love FREE product!!!  So colours are from the Brights family and it’s a very simple page…I cut some DSP from the Brights pkg to 4 x 1.5 and filled the bottom, the middle is Daffodil Delight ran through the Big Shot with the stripes folder, CELEBRATE is done on the Cricut (sorry not enough time to die cut all the letters so I cheated) and then the page is embellished with buttons and stars.  The journaling is done on a small piece of Whisper White stamped with the Notes and Details set.  Hope you like and looking forward to another fun filled Club night J  Thanks for stopping by!  Steph

Strength and Hope

Hello all :)  I try not to post retired items, but this card has a purpose.  This one is being sent out to the Lee family for the loss of Anna.  Anna was a close friend to my cousins and someone who everyone knew at high school, because she was the kind of person who would say hi to everyone.  I remember Anna as always being the happy one, and always full of life.  Anna leaves behind to little kids and my heart breaks for them.  It's times like these where I really question the man upstairs...but I have to believe there's a reason for everything.  So I thought that this card was the perfect card to send to Anna's family as she lost her battle with cancer at the very young age of 35.  It's hard to read in my picture (and I really have to start getting out the Nikon instead of using the little point and shoot) but the words on the card are "courage hope believe unity survivor caring together love kindness support strength blessed thank you" Rest in peace in Anna.

Tri Shutter Card - Dimensions and what NOT to do!

Well I' supposed to be at work but received a call at lunch from daycare, and Hannah is sick with a fever of 102...so it was Tylenol, water, and Ariel, so while the house is quiet I thought I would put up a quick post.  This is the card I mentioned in an earlier post...I'm just not too crazy about it.  I LOVE the paper but think it might be just a little too busy all together for the shutter card...what do you think?  My thought is the tri shutter card might be best left to more elegant types of paper or vintage.

Anyways, as promised (and late!) here are the dimensions to make these super cool cards!

Start off with a piece of 12x12 and cut to 5 1/2.  Then take the piece of 5 1/2 x12 and place it longways on your paper trimmer or simply scored, and score at 2, 4, 8, 10.  Then flip the piece in your trimmer so now it will be the length of your trimmer and measure in 1 1/2"...take your blade and start at the 2" mark and cut to the 10" mark (don't go past!).  Now flip the paper and do the same to the other edge (so measure in 1 1/2" again and trim from the 2" mark to the 10" mark.  Now time to decorate!
If you're using cardstock and DSP here are the measurements for the pieces you will need to layer the paper:

Cardstock - 2 pcs of 5 1/4 x 1 3/4             DSP - 2pcs of 5 x 1 1/2
                    1 pc of 2 1/4 x 3 3/4                         1pc of 2 x 3 1/2
                    2 pcs of 1 1/4 x 3 3/4                       2pcs of 1 x 3 1/2
                    4 pcs of 1 3/4 x 1 1/4                       4pcs of 1 1/2 x 1
                    1 pc of 2 1/4 x 2                               1 pc of 2 x 1 3/4

That's it!  So if you want to leave the cardstock layer out, you can just use the Cardstock dimensions with your DSP or to leave a wider edge use the DSP measurements.

Any questions please feel free to ask!

THanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Twitterpatted - I'm lovin it!

Good Sunday Morning to you all!  Having a great weekend...was able to get some much needed cleaning done (especially since I have to work ALL week next week :( but the upside is it's Club night Friday so YEAH!)  As you know we are in reno mode (but have taken a break this week!) so I have only had a very little amount of time to craft...I did make a card Thursday night, but not sure if I will post it, it's a sight for sore eyes, or maybe I will post it so I can show you what NOT to do - lol!  Ok for today's post I did a little MDS page using the new Twitterpatted download.  LOVE this set!  With the set you get the paper, ribbon, buttons, stamps and a 12x12 template, which I used for this page, so really all I had to do was plunk my 4 pics in and do some journalling. I added a cpl more of the flowers and a punch behind the pics, but really this took minutes.  I know alot of you out there are probably like me when MDS first came out and think why scrapbook on a computer when you love the actual social and paper crafting part of scrapbooking.  I was really against giving MDS a try, but the honest truth is I'm not giving up my scrapbook time, I'm just able to get ALOT more of my scrapbooking done, along with other things like b-day invites and party decorations, thank-yous and so on BUT I still love to make things with actual paper :)  so if you think you are at all interested or just want to see what it's all about, e-mail me and come on out for a free workshop...there will be NO pressure to buy anything, I just want to share what a great program this is!  ok, off to pick up little Kayla who had a nice sleepover at Oma's (thanks mom!)  Have a great Sunday!  Steph
